Fun (and potentially shocking) fact: Depending upon the size of your company, there’s a good chance that you don’t need to build out a marketing team. Seriously.
Marketing is this thing that everyone knows they need, but most of the time they don’t know why they need it. The typical – and most natural – response is to build an internal team, but there’s a better way: partnering with an agency! There are pros and cons to both, I won’t deny that, but hiring an agency almost always proves to be more cost-effective and results-driven. Agencies come armed with the tools, expertise, and scalability necessary to start delivering value right away, without the overhead costs of building and managing an internal team.
The financial difference is pretty drastic. Hiring and maintaining an internal team involves salaries and everything else that comes along with it, like pet insurance policies and yoga retreat stipends. A single marketing manager is likely to run you $100k annually, which doesn’t include their support team. In contrast, an agency provides access to a team of experts for a fraction of that cost, and they’ll probably buy their own coffee while they’re at it. On top of that, if your company runs into a slower period, you don’t have to worry about paying out a salary.
It’s not just cost you have to consider, it’s expertise. Agencies often bring diverse and specialized skill sets to the table, all for a flat fee, and all working together in sync to achieve your goals – heck, probably even setting goals that you didn’t even know you needed to hit! Agencies also take the time to stay ahead of trends and leverage tools that would incur additional costs to purchase and learn in-house.
Partnering with an agency also saves you time. Instead of recruiting, onboarding, and managing an internal team, you gain a team that’s ready to execute. Agencies streamline processes, quickly implement strategies, and deliver measurable results, allowing you to focus on your core business rather than day-to-day marketing management. Remember, time = money.
Finally, agencies provide flexibility and a fresh perspective. They can scale efforts up or down as your needs change, and their outsider’s view often uncovers opportunities that internal teams might miss. With an agency, you’re not just outsourcing marketing—you’re investing in a solution that’s cost-effective, efficient, and tailored to your success.
All that said, I made this blog short and to the point so that you could spend some time figuring out what your company’s goals are and how you intend to achieve them with strategic marketing. Do you want to build out an internal team and push those goals off for another year or two, or do you want to get started right away? I think I know the answer to that one, so get in touch!
